Hybe Insight: A k-pop fan's dream
I had the amazing opportunity to go to Hybe's new exhibit. Hybe is the record label that is sister companies to Big Hit Entertainment. Therefore all of the groups signed under these labels are in the exhibit. If I am being completely honest, I mostly went for BTS and Tomorrow x Together. The exhibit is a pretty good size and includes artwork, real sound equipment used for performances, and the famous Mic Drop performance outfits. Additionally they have a wall of all the awards the groups have recieved along with a few insightful videos. Additionally, the museum has some interactive components to it such as the AR game you complete as a group. If your group won you got a random small prize at the end of the session. This game is like a virtual scavenger hunt so I enjoyed it a lot. Also, don't fret if you do not know Korean. The videos have subtitles and the plaques on the wall also have english. My favorite part of the museum was being able to see the sound equipment used by the groups. Specifically , I loved seing BTS's sparkly, colorful microphones in real life. Just a warning, they don't alow pictures everywhere and they have pretty strict rules. It was overall a really positive experience though. You can also see the giant Hybe building which has a great place for photo ops.
I'm not going to lie, I almost cried about three times while I was in the exhibit. I think that it did a great job of expressing the artist as lyricist and producers. They openly talked about their vulnerabilities in a way I have never seen in other interviews.I really enjoyed this museum because I feel like I was able to see through the superficial layer of Kpop and got to learn more about music production and dance. Most of all I really got to see how music moved and impacted the artist. I believe that this exhibit is not only great for kpop fans but also for music producers and musical artist. I could not take a ton of pictures. So it really is something you just have to see for yourself. I highly reccomend checking it out. It is a very unique exhibit.
