The Han River
Stretching over 300 kilometers through the heart of Seoul, the Han River is a lifeline that connects the city's diverse neighborhoods. Lined with parks, walking trails, and scenic viewpoints, the river offers an idyllic setting for outdoor gatherings, picnics, and leisurely strolls. Whether you're seeking solitude or camaraderie, the Han River provides the perfect backdrop for relaxation.

As Seoul's weather gets warmer and clearer, people all over the city will eventually find themselves sitting in front of the Han River. My friends and I found ourselves in this exact position as we spent the day lounging near the water surrounded by locals doing just the same. We arrived in Yeouido park, one of the most popular spots on the river, for our picnic together. Right as you walk into the park there are lines of vendors selling mats and tables for the hundred of picnic goers who come everyday. for 5,000 won you can rent a large mat to sprawl out on and for 8,000 won you can get a small table as well. When renting them you must give one form of ID to the vendors to ensure you return the items at the end of the day. Once a spot has been chosen on the grass there are beautiful sights to take in for miles. If you get hungry during the day, the famous "Floating 7/11" is not far. This 7/11 is simply floating on the river, but offers all kinds of foods and drinks for people to buy and bring back to their picnic spots to eat and drink.
Chatting and looking at the amazing scenery we quickly lost track of time as the sun began to set and the riverbed getting ever more crowded. As it starts to get dark out, street food vendors begin opening up their stalls. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken skewers, takoyaki, and Korean corndogs. As we were just about to leave for the night, we discovered an adorable popup shop location on a large boat on the river. Free entry is allowed for everyone and the views from the boat were gorgeous. At about 10pm there is a rainbow water show from the bridge next to the park that draws in people from all over.
A day or even an afternoon on the Han River is something everyone should do when in Seoul. The bustling area has great views and even better energy for those looking for good vibes.
