Kelly McGovern
Kelly's Program
Born and raised in Chicago. After earning my math and Spanish degree to teach secondary education from Loras College in May of 2013, I moved to Spain with CIEE and their teach abroad program to improve my Spanish skills. While residing in Spain, I worked with bilingual students and focused on improving their listening and oral English language skills. I lived and worked in Andalucía (Southern Spain) for three years. I am currently in my sixth year teaching Spanish at the high school level in the Chicagoland area.
While in Spain I traveled often, earned my official DELE C1 Diploma from the Instituto de Cervantes, met lifelong friends, and fell in love with the culture. Living in Spain has been an incredible experience and I have grown both personally and professionally. This experience has impacted me and prepared me in ways I could have never imagined. Whenever I have an opportunity to travel or return to Spain, you bet I'm taking it.
This is my 3rd summer working with CIEE and their High School Study Abroad Program. The most rewarding part of this job is watching the students grow as they immerse themselves in a language and culture that is not their own.
