Joshua S.
So where to begin? I guess I'll start of with my name and where I am from. My name is Josh Smith and I was born in Queens, New York, however, I have spent the past 7 years in Greenville, North Carolina. I received my undergraduate degree in biology and a masters in chemistry both at East Carolina University. I currently am living and teaching in Prague and trying to travel as much as possible while I am here.
I love living in Europe and have already lived there for six months. I lived in Poland for four and a half months, there I studied at the University of Wroclaw for a semester. Once the semester was over, I spent a month and a half in Bosnia traveling back and forth between Sarajevo and Mostar.
Traveling is one of my favorite activities to take part in, be it alone or in a group . Some of my favorite cities I have been to are Wroclaw, Berlin, Dublin, Brno, Zurich, Cluj, Brussels, Prague, and Budapest.
While foreign languages aren't my forte, I do love trying to learn more about them. While I lived in Poland, I started to teach myself Serbian/Bosnian/Croation due to my friend group that I made while I was over there. I am able to read and write SBC, but my conversation skills are still limited. I also learned how to read Cyrillic while living in Bosnia. When I returned to the states, I began to study some Russian linguistics to broaden my knowledge of Cyrillic. I also took a semester of German for fun. I am currently trying to teach myself Czech, of course with aid from locals.
Traveling and learning about culture, music, history and trying new foods are some of my favorite things in life. Nothing exhilarates me more than going to new places and meeting new people. Aside from traveling, I love music, arts and to exercise. I have a soft spot for going outside and partaking in activities, such as, hiking, snowboarding, walking, biking, and skateboarding. Lastly, I really enjoy socializing, if that wasn't already evident. Nothing beats grabbing a coffee with a friend or two and just having a good discussion.
I would say most people see me as a friendly, go with the flow, hardworking kind of person. I live to learn and I love to live.
