Teach In Spain Program
Hometown: East Greenwich

Hi! I am currently in Madrid under the English language teaching assistant program. A little bit about me, I grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from URI in 2021 with a double major in Writing and English. I started my career in Sales, but shifted to Marketing for a year before coming to Madrid. I have only been outside of the country a few times, including Ireland, Peru, and the Bahamas, but have always dreamed of traveling and experiencing different cultures. This has inspired me to take the leap to teach in a different Spain. I hope to bring my love for Writing and English into the lives of the children I’ll be working with in Spain and bringing you along through this blog! Some other things I enjoy that you can expect to read about as I spend time in Madrid:

-Being active, running, and getting outside

-Book stores, coffee shops, and exploring new areas

-Learning about history through experiences and exploration of museums, galleries, monuments, etc

-I absolutely love the ocean and skiing so I look forward to weekends of travel

Preparing for Madrid: From Planning to Landing

By Gabrielle S.

Hi! Welcome to the first few days in Madrid. My name is Gabrielle and this is my first time living abroad for an extended period of time. As I write this first post, it marks my second week as an Auxiliar de conversation. I speak very little Spanish and plan to learn and acquire a tutor while I am here, but it can be tough to navigate the first few days in a different country without fully knowing the language. Here is my experience!
