David A's Program
David Barbier Jr. is a Posse Scholar at Syracuse University studying Television, Radio & Film and International Relations. David’s superpower is using storytelling as a bridge of vulnerability to connect people across lines of difference.
He has always dreamed of performing and doing masterful storytelling. His journey into theatre began at the age of 10 and would spark an innate curiosity in what it means to “immerse” oneself in another world.
Creating short films and acting in Highschool productions left David yearning for more experiences that would ultimately stimulate his curiosity with the world. In 2018, David’s desire for an expanding world view and cross-cultural exchange primed him for selection as a Nyah Project fellow, where he completed a leadership fellowship in Ghana and subsequently served as a peer facilitator in Indonesia the following year.
Before his freshman year of college, David served as a production assistant to Apple Music’s Emmy-award winning, Carpool Karaoke. Inspired by his first year experience, David developed a Diversity Equity Inclusion talk show, “Shades of ‘Cuse”, which highlights notable Syracuse alumni from marginalized backgrounds. As the host for a recent Syracuse 2020 lecture series, he interviewed Wilmer Valderamma. Most recently, David shadowed the former CEO of AMC Networks, Josh Sapan. While there he wrote a new and original series. On the horizon, David is looking forward to studying abroad this upcoming Spring 2022 semester.
