CIEE Expands Study Abroad Portfolio – France

CIEE is pleased to announce the expansion of our portfolio in France which includes 13 study abroad and internship programs in three vibrant French cities. Starting in spring ‘24, the CIEE portfolio in France has been expanded to include:

1. Enhancements to CIEE programs in Paris – We’re updating select programs to include a greater selection of courses, new host institution partnerships, and expanded eligibility!
2. New CIEE programs in Paris – We’re launching several new opportunities in France’s capital city including an updated semester-long language-intensive program!
3. A robust portfolio in Paris, Rennes, and Toulouse – CIEE offers the most comprehensive portfolio of programs in France, including direct enroll, hybrid, intensive language, and internships, as well as the innovative and affordable CIEE Open Campus Block program!

With CIEE, students can have an immersive international experience in the bright lights of magical Paris, the rural charm of Rennes, or the student-populated Pink City of Toulouse. With an expanded selection of semester, Open Campus Block, summer, J-term, and internship programs, CIEE provides scores of options in France to meet the needs of every student regardless of budget, academic schedule, or major. Students can choose from a rich variety of programs focused on business, language, contemporary music, and more.

Moreover, CIEE offers the most generous and flexible suite of scholarships and grants, including travel grants for Pell-eligible students, CIEE Gilman Scholarship matching grants, academic merit grants, Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship and Scholars awards, and CIEE alumni discounts.

CIEE’s expansion in France is part of our overarching plan for thoughtful additions and updates across the entire CIEE worldwide study abroad portfolio to better meet student demand and open the door to study abroad for a greater diversity of students. We’ve started by updating our portfolio in several popular Western European locations. We announced updates to our Spain portfolio and Italy portfolio earlier this month and will next week have announcements regarding CIEE’s expansion of study abroad programs in England and Scotland.

Expansion of CIEE’s France Program Portfolio

The expanded CIEE portfolio in France now offers a larger variety of best-in-class study abroad programs to meet the needs of students with diverse academic needs, budgets, and interests. The portfolio includes existing, updated, and new programs taught at multiple host institutions or by CIEE faculty:

• Language Immersion Programs – Semester-long liberal arts programs in Rennes and Paris feature instruction in French and are comprised of courses taught at host institutions and by CIEE faculty. In Paris, this is a refresh of CIEE’s existing French and Critical Studies program, offering an enhanced selection of French-taught courses on topics including communications, cinema, theatre, cultural mediation, literature, and linguistics.

• Discipline-based Programs – include courses taught at host institutions and by CIEE faculty. Depending on the course, instruction is delivered in English or French. The CIEE Business & Culture program currently offered in Toulouse will now also be offered in Paris!

• Multidisciplinary Programs 
  • CIEE “Semester in” Programs – are designed to increase access to study abroad by offering broad eligibility with minimal prerequisites or language requirements. Students can access hundreds of courses from host institution partners and CIEE faculty. Starting in spring ’24, we will be offering CIEE Semester in Paris.
  • CIEE Open Campus Block Programs – allow students to take up to three consecutive 6-week academic blocks in Paris or combine 6-week blocks in Paris with 6-week blocks in 15+ other CIEE Open Campus Block locations. These programs are ideal for comparative global learning and for students from quarter schools.
  • CIEE Global Internships – provide a network of employers in Paris across a multitude of industries who can deliver valuable work-based learning opportunities.
