What about Oregon?

Last month I wrote about Portland, but what about the rest of the state? Buckle up, there are a lot of fun things to do in Oregon!

- Oregon's capital is Salem and it's the second largest city by population in the state, after Portland.
- The Tillamook Cheese Factory is located near the coast and it produces 171,000 pounds of cheese each day. It's a great place to visit, specially when you're hungry!
- Douglas fir is the official state tree and can be vastly seen throughout the parks.
- Mount Hood is the tallest peak in Oregon, and said to be the second most climbed mountain in the world. It is a dormant volcano with more than 11,000 feet high. There are really cool hikes you can do during the day, as well as places to camp or rent a cabin. Ski and other snow sports are open almost year around, and if you go to Timberline you can see the lodge used as the exterior of the hotel in the movie The Shining.
- You can find so many stunning waterfalls in Oregon. The tallest around here, and probably most famous, is Multnomah Falls, with a total drop of more than 600 feet. Silver Falls State Park is Oregon’s largest state park and it features 10 waterfalls, one of them you can actually walk behind the water.
- D River, located in Lincoln City, is only 120 feet long and it's considered the shortest river in the world .
- Oregon state flag is the only one in the U.S. with a different image on the reverse side, it is a beaver.
- Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the Unites States (and one of the top ten in the world!), formed by a volcano collapse. It is knows by its incredible blue water.
