A World of Plants in the Eternal City: Exploring Rome's Botanical Garden
This week we escaped the heat at the Botanical Gardens in Rome. The garden is home to thousands of plant species native to Italy and non-native, many plants come from all over the world! The garden is affiliated with one of the universities here, so our tour guide was incredibly well versed on all of the happenings and history of the garden.
Students got to adventure through palms, roses, bamboo, and even sequoias! The garden sits on a hillside and we even saw a Japanese Garden nestled at the highest point, it was so relaxing and so beautiful to look at the pond, then to turn around and see the city below us!
Walking through nature is always a nice refreshing and relaxing way to spend the morning. We returned to the study center walking through Trastevere, an off-the-beaten-path neighborhood of Rome, and had a great afternoon learning more Italian in class!
