Students are now prepared to demonstrate their talent and enthusiasm for STEM after learning so much over the past few days. To construct their final projects, they are working incredibly hard and, more importantly, together! They work consistently, and the CIEE staff is so proud of them!

They started coming up with project ideas at the beginning of the week. All of the concepts were original, and they aimed to create initiatives that could benefit the community.

Always brainstorming!

Since the students in this group are so close to one another, their friendliness and positive energy is what most distinguishes them.

A natural cosmetics organic wrapping is being developed by Channing, Maneeza, and Nora Onek. They determined the need to switch from plastic to biodegradable wrappers when enclosing soaps. They had to work consistently in the Lab, test some options, procede with chemical process and then voilá, they accomplish their goal!

Ciena, Kayla, and Nora were developing an organic bug repellant to take the place of aerosols and other products that are bad for the environment and biodiversity. Do you know that frogs are susceptible to these toxins, and Monteverde is renowned for having a significant diversity of frog species? Las chicas are really trying to protect them, though!

The goal of Samantha, Julia, Lauren, and Julien's greenhouse design for the CIEE campus is to introduce some engineering to the process of growing crops in organic matter. The most exciting thing about their unique ideas is that they used all they had learned from visiting local farms and having the opportunity to speak with some of the best farmers in the area!

¡We have more groups and more exciting ideas of the other students!

And off course… In CIEE we always have time to relax and dance! Las chicas learned how to dance like a true “tica”!

We could not be more grateful for having the chance to be part of their experience and to enjoy a lot of wonderful moments surrounded by sweet, kind, funny, creative and BRAVE students!
