Visiting Kitano Tenmangu
After class today, we visited Kitano Tenmangu. We loaded up our Icoca cards and traveled roughly fifteen stops on the bus to our destination. Before entering the site, we discussed the sacred nature of the shrine we visited. Historically associated with academic excellence, many visitors to the shrine continue to write their educational and other goals on sacred wooden blocks with the hope that their dreams will be realized. Many of our students did the same, also participating in other rituals at the shrine to bring about prosperity and happiness.
