Vamos a hacer kayak!
Aside from attending language intensive courses and participating in community conversations, students engage in various cultural activities ranging from touring the Real Alcázar de Sevilla (aka Dorne from the HBO series Game of Thrones) to learning how to dance sevillanas, a local folk dance that is very similar to flamenco. This week we took to the Guadalquivir to kayak along the riverbanks to catch a great view of the nearby Triana neighborhood while getting a little bicep exercise.
Our kayak instructor, Fernando, guided students in learning how to maneuver their kayaks while on the water. After the tutorial, students were eager to set sail and splash around in the cool river to counter the sweltering 35ºC heat. 3,000+ meters later, every student became a master at kayaking and were also, understandably so, ready to echar una siesta.
"It was fun and a great way to exercise. We also got to see the city while sailing along the river with our friends. Fue muy divertido!" - Serenity and Oliver
