Fun classes, new adventures and friendships!

This is a description of what our experience in the Climate Change Mitigation program has been so far.

Angelina, Arizona and Ayanna.

We visited Las Cataratas El Tigre, a surreal location teeming with life and water sources of unparalleled clarity that prompts us to consider the value of rain and the condition of rivers.

This magical place is the result of the hard work of a family from Monteverde who decided to turn their land into a business associated with eco-tourism.

Thanks to the natural wonders that occur in the Monteverde area, many families benefit from eco-tourism projects just like the case of Las Cataratas el Tigre.

We continued to explore more of the wonders of Monteverde and went ziplining. We leave our fears behind and we tried the famous “Tarzan Swing”, it was amazing! It allowed us to experience courage, bravery and belief in ourselves.

This is how we finished the first week and then we started our second week learning about nutrient cycling in soils and the importance of epiphytes as reservoirs of water in the forest.

We learned the most important lesson: To mitigate climate change we must start by protecting our soils, they are the basis of ecosystems and the ones that suffer the most if we damage them.

FUN FACT: Did you know that many species of frogs use bromeliads for shelter when the forest dries up?
