Traveling Through Time in Toei Eiga Mura
One of the most exciting things to experience in Japan is wearing a yukata, a traditional lighter outfit worn during the summer. This weekend proved to be sunny and bright as we ventured out to the Toei Eiga Mura, or the Toei Kyoto Movie Park. The park is known for the many historical dramas and movies filmed there as well as the lavish costumes that are historically accurate and well-crafted.
The students arrived at the park in the morning and immediately got busy choosing a yukata along with the obi belt to suit it. What a sight to behold! It was as if we were transported back into the Edo Period once we stepped out of the dressing room and into the outdoor park. There were many Edo-style buildings to explore and take photos in. We also fought ninjas and watched a samurai show. Since Toei also produces animated works, we were very surprised to see a HUGE mecha in the back of the park, the EVA01! It was wonderful to see the view of the city from atop his head.
