This is Sumita Sensei's class. Front left row, L to R: Emma, Natalie, Myah. Front right row, L to R: Avery, Isaac, Kaiden. Back left row, L to R: Paul, Owen, Danny. Back right row, L to R: Marley, Sam. Third row: Adam.

Students practiced jiko-shokai's today. Jiko shokai = self introductions. They learned to say their name and how many people are in their family, and how to name some of the members. When I (Heather sensei) came into the room at 11:30, we also practiced saying where we're from, and asking someone else how old they are. We talked about asking the homestay children their ages and playing rock-scissors-paper (known as jan ken pon, very popular in Japan in its own right.)

We're having a pretty good time. Everyone in class 1B was ON TIME to class today, which is very important in Japan. (yokatta desu ne.) They also learned to read some Hiragana I believe.

Some students are doing Homestays right now, and some are staying at the Pocket Hotel.

Hope all is well 'over there' !!!! We all miss our families! Students have reported some tiredness and jet lag, but nobody in our group has gotten sick. Knock on wood!

Tomorrow we go to the Kyoto Bosai Center (Disaster Prevention Center) - (not bonsai, which is a plant cultivating hobby, but the words do sound very similar.)

Time to go to bed and get up early again. Oyasumi-nasai.
