From the rainforest to dry forest
On our second day in Manuel Antonio students helped to pick up plastic on the public beach to identify some different effects humans are having on the environment in touristy areas. Then we played some volleyball on the beach!
After leaving Manuel Antonio we headed north to Santa Rosa national park which is almost to the border with Nicaragua. This area has dry forests to explore and different plant and animal life to check out. One morning we spent time with a group of Costa Rican fourth graders from the Guanacaste Bioliteracy Program learning about biodiversity. Then we enjoyed the beach in the Junquillal Conservation area.
Today students visited the Rincon de la Vieja national park to see the unique volcanic craters there and also swim in the Chorreras waterfall.
