Playing Pétanque in the Park!
Pétanque (similar to bocce ball in Italy) originated in 1910 in La Ciotat, in Provence, France. Since then it has become a popular pastime all over the world! And for the serious players, there are pétanque competitions!
In Pétanque the objective is to score points by throwing your balls closer to the target than your opponent after all have been thrown. You can also hit the opponents' balls away from the target, while standing inside a circle with both feet on the ground.
The winner is the team that accumulates 13 points first!
This game is normally played on dirt terrains in public parks! We went to the lovely Jardin du Palais Royal near the Louvre!
The students had a great time learning a timeless French game and also picked up some strategies to beat their opponents! :)
