Theatre Arts on London’s Stage

Goodness.... the creativity of blog titles is deteriorating in direct correlation to Program Leader Exhaustion!!!

We. Are. Having. A. Time!

I know we just posted but we've had a couple of very full days and wanted to throw a few memories out there!

Thursday:  An early start north by bus to Stratford-upon-Avon and all things BARD!  After checking in at the hotel, we walked through the most quaint of cobblestone streets to the Royal Shakespeare Theater and an interactive performance of KYOTO.  Please look it up and talk with your kiddos about it - it was provocative and innovative and worthy of discussion - which we had in the park when it was done.  CIEE really outdid itself with this play as part of the Theater Program.  Well done!  Free time and some unsolicited fish & chips rounded out our first day in the beautiful Cotswolds!

Friday: A day of history never hurt anyone and the history of the Shakespeare was above and beyond!  A comprehensive tour of the Guild hall and Chapel was followed by a delicious Turkish meal and a costumery exhibition at the Royal Shakespeare Theater.  After some more free time in the historic shops, we headed back to London by bus....

Saturday:  Greenwich day!  We started out early with the Creative Writing group and took an amazing river cruise on the Thames from Westminster Pier to Greenwich.  It was a particularly meaningful journey when we learned that the Mayflower took that same trip and we saw where the ship was made and the captain embarked with it.  Tours of the Cutty Sark (look it up!!) and the Royal Maritime Museum were only topped by the hike up to the Royal Conservatory where the views of London were unparalleled! Not only could you see an amazing view of the city, vut we also were able to stand at the Prime Meridian!  Again - look it up!!! https://www.rmg.co.uk/stories/topics/what-prime-meridian-why-it-greenwich

Tomorrow is a free day... More to come!
