Making summer sounds
Walking around the street, people can hear the beautiful sounds, which are coming from “Furin.” It is traditional Japanese sound maker, which people put on the balcony and porches of their homes in summer to feel relaxed and chill.
They made their own glass wind chimes from blowing the glass to painting on the design. The first floor of the factory has an oven which is very, very hot for melting the glass and the creating the shape. Some students struggled with blowing, it was harder than it looked!
Afterward, students painted designs on their wind chimes. Some students painted their favorite Japanese characters and Japanese nature, animals, or fireworks and more. They really enjoyed painting and enjoyed conversing with their friends during the activity.
