Hampton Court Palace and King Henry VIII
Tudor history was on the agenda today with a visit to Hampton Court Palace, former home to King Henry VIII and his famous wives. Located outside of London along the Thames, we took a train to visit the popular palace. One of the favorite palaces of Henry, we were lead by an extremely knowledgeable tour guide through and around the palace. Bridgerton fans even were able to spot a few filming locations from the show!
King Henry VIII moved in the year 1525; the Tudor family and his six wives were a big topic of conversation today. Divorced, headed, died, divorced, beheaded, survived - this was the fate of King Henry VIII's wives. We learned about all of them, as well as the amazing architecture and grounds of the palace. The oldest hedge maze in the world (1690!) is in the garden, so students had a chance to get lost for a moment.
Seeing history come alive will always be a privilege. We had a wonderful time getting up close and personal with the Tudors!
