Guagua (Bus) Tour of Historic Mérida
We ended our first week in Mérida with a bus tour of the historic areas of the city. The group enjoyed getting to know the city better and learning about its rich history and different architectural styles. The bus (or guagua) was a super fun way to tour Mérida and stay cool at the same time. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and thorough. We captured some amazing photos of la Ciudad Blanca which gets its name from the limestone used in construction.
After the bus tour, we ended the evening with ice cream and a video mapping presentation projected onto the side of the cathedral. We learned more about the Mayan culture and its presence in Yucatán today. It’s amazing to see Mexico’s diversity and blend of cultures.
