A Glimpse into the Prehistoric City of Erfurt, Germany: Where Statues Come to Life!
Students enjoyed visiting the city of Erfurt and had the opportunity to shop, eat delicious cuisines, and explore! Located in central Germany, Erfurt is the largest city in the State of Thuringia. This unique capital has a history dating from the prehistoric and middle ages. Erfurt is where Martin Luther studied and was one of the largest cities of the Holy Roman Empire in 1500. Today Erfurt has a population of over 213,000 and is home to many historical tourist attractions, including the Petersberg Citadel and the Old Synagogue. The capital has made a concerted effort to preserve its neo-gothic and Renaissance-style patrician homes and buildings. Erfurt is a city where statues come to life!
