Getting Into Character
Tuesday's class was all about character!
Students split into two groups with different lesson approaches before switching.
Group 1 delved into character archetypes through an engaging matching game. They received trope names and had to pair them with descriptions and representative characters from classics like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. After the matching game, they embodied these tropes, walking like their chosen archetypes while the rest of the group guessed who they were. How do you walk like a Sidekick, Trickster, or Villain? The students got creative!
Group 2 put their visual arts to work with the creation of their own characters. In this activity, they made mythical human-animal hybrids of their choice and delved into what made these characters tick before sharing them with the class. Who needs beautiful mermaids when you have buff otter-people?
