With writing prompts that helped them find calming inspiration, they also learning real life skills through volunteer work. Students learned the importance of caring for the land in order to help preserve the beauty of the garden. In groups of 4, students tended to the garden in order to help out the caretaker of the land, Alan. Some students tilled the land, stained and painted benches, and broke down branches.
Some students expressed how they garden at home and find it therapeutic. Seeing these students work together was wonderful to see. Leaving a green space better than the way they found it was a wonderful way to end a sunny day!
