Connecting Italian Art, History & Culture

Monday was a delicate a blend of a bitter and sweet goodbye and hello to a journey of creativity.

Class with our loveable language teacher came to an end, yet and a strong display of our student's artistic abilities began.

In this group, we love to talk about Bruno.

Bruno was our larger-than-life Italian functional language class instructor.

He taught the students to properly pronounce  frequently used words in Italian, and to roll their “Rs” with intention. More importantly, the students absolutely adored him.

The class ended with several selfies with Bruno, capturing that big radiant smile of his.

The afternoon fresco workshop, hosted in the Piazzi Navona Stadio Di Domiziano, was held in a beautiful underground space, exhibitiing famous Italian soccer player's jerseys. This was a treat to our futball fans. Chit chat about the world cup and their favorite players was the prelude to the painting. For the frescos, students were given small picture references of familiar Italian art images to trace using implied lines. They then painted the wet surfaces of their heavy concrete pieces with the images they chose.

Each small, fragmented fresco piece became a living work of art all it’s own.
