For our Fashion Marketing students, dreams are coming true this first week in Paris!! From learning in class to bonding with new friends, exploring the city, shopping (a lot) and dining , there is excitement around every major boulevard and charming Parisian alley.

These discoveries continued at the immersive Louis Vuitton Dream exhibit this week, where our young fashionistas explored the past, present and future of renowned French designer brand, Louis Vuitton.

During our private tour of the exhibit, we learned how Louis Vuitton got his start after traveling across France and working for years packing other people’s luggage.  He used his experience to design his own functional and quality steamer trunks, which gained popularity and allowed him to expand his business. The exhibit emphasizes his legacy, featuring the craftsmanship and innovation of these early pieces and tracing the evolution of new shapes and styles, including modern collaborations with artists like Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama and fashion designers like Marc Jacobs.

The Fashion Marketing class was accompanied by their instructor, Mickaël Cotte, who answered questions and informed learning along the way. Our tour ended with a Louis Vuitton chocolate tasting!  In our coursework, students learned that luxury brands are starting to expand into the culinary market to gain the attention of more customers and this bite was a delicious example!

Students were tempted by the gift shop on the way out of the experience and then enjoyed time to grab lunch in the area before we were off for our next adventure:  a scavenger hunt in Montmartre, the hilly home of the gorgeous Sacre Coeur basilica!

Au revoir!  À bientôt!
