A Day in the Life
This blog was written by student Emely Villanueva at Monteverde session 2.
It was a difficult yet interesting day in Monteverde, Costa Rica. My morning started with an environmental science session, where we were taught about the environmental impact of women in STEM and the UN's initiatives to encourage them. The extent to which women contribute to environmental protection was astounding. We also completed an eye-opening test to determine how we personally affect the environment. The stunning scenery surrounding Monteverde served as the ideal reminder of the significance of these teachings. I went to a challenging afternoon Spanish lesson. It was challenging, but it was also incredibly fascinating. The instructor was very kind and patient, which helped the students learn the challenging vocabulary and grammar. Her love for the language and culture made the class enjoyable. In addition to several group activities that helped us put what we had learned into practice, we completed a number of speaking and listening exercises. Overall especially for today being the first day of classes it really was an amazing experience !
