¡Concurso de piñatas!

Students had to pop the balloon in the piñata and hope the piñata didn't collapse!
The Quetzal won first place! Students learned about the symbolism of this colorful bird while at Chichen Itza.
Students enjoyed the video mapping of the Cathedral of Mérida so much that they designed their piñata after the event!
This group created un mascarón maya (Mayan figurehead).
Group "Las Reinas/The Queens" designed an elegant octopus, "Queen of the sea," to represent the marine life near Mérida.

On Monday students created original piñatas as part of our ongoing competition between the classes. Each class had to design a functional piñata with the materials provided. Students watched a video that explained the process before getting started. The outcomes were extremely impressive and it proved to be a tough competition!
