Bosaikan (Life Safety Learning Center) and Sunshine City (Ikebukuro)
Konnichiwa! This is PL Lauren Gassman (Or G-Sensei, to the Tokyo Global Navigators), and I am here to do a small update on something we did a while back. (Thanks to technology, I hadn't been able to get all the pictures I needed... yikes!)
Our students went on an excursion to the Tokyo Fire Department Ikebukuro Life Safety Learning Center. There, they learned how to deal with the outbreak of fires and the onset of earthquakes.
Students learned how to properly use a fire extinguisher, how to call 911 for emergencies (In Japan's case, the number for fire and ambulance is 119! Convenient!), and what to do in case of an Earthquake. Japan takes earthquake safety very seriously, as Japan is earthquake prone. Our students got to experience earthquakes, and know what to do if they were inside or outside when an Earthquake happened. A skill that would come in handy, as we had a small earthquake that very night!
After all of the hard work - the students were treated to a small trip to Sunshine City, which is a shopping mall with many floors and places to eat. The mainstay of this mall is an acquarium, a sky observatory, and my personal favorite, The Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo!
The students got to spend some free time inside the mall, before heading back to the center.
We will continue to keep you updated!
