Arrival / Touchaku!
Touchaku 到着 means "arrival". I remember my first day in Japan, well over twenty years ago, very well. The sights, sounds, landscape, language, and culture, everything being different than what you've ever imagined, it leaves a big impression in one's memories. I'm sure many of our CIEE participants will have very strong memories of their first day in Japan, well into the future.
To wish our students well on their academic journey, our first visit of note was to the Kitano Tenmangu shrine, a well known shrine for Japanese student to wish for luck and success in their studies. Mina-san, ganbatte kudasai!
At the end of our first day's orientation, participants finally were able to meet their homestay families. A big Hajimemashite and Yoroshiku onegai shimasu! from our many brave world adventurers directed to their new Japanese families.
