Study Abroad Deadlines for IU Students
To maximize your study abroad opportunities, it’s best to start planning as early as possible. The IU Office of Overseas Study outlines some helpful planning tips, including applying for a passport, working closely with your academic advisor(s) and study abroad advisor(s), talking with returnees, and researching financial considerations.
Application deadlines are program-specific and are determined shortly before applications open; however, generally deadlines are as follows:
- Summer programs: mid-January to early-February
- Fall programs: late-January to late-March
- Academic year programs: mid-January to early-February
- Spring programs: late-August to late-September

Scholarships and Grants
WONDERING HOW TO AFFORD STUDY ABROAD?

As a result, CIEE offers more scholarships, grants, and other funding opportunities than any other provider to help make your study abroad experience a reality. With proper planning and a commitment to exploring funding resources, studying abroad can be affordable for any budget. There are many factors that influence choice in location and program; while one important factor is cost, don’t let that be the one that deters you from an enriching international experience.
