Global Flex
If you are a current, degree-seeking student at Arizona State University (ASU), adding ASU online courses to your CIEE Study Abroad curriculum is not an enrollment option available to you. However, there are other pathways to take ASU courses online, in addition to in-person coursework, while studying abroad with CIEE. The Global Flex program allows you to study abroad in 18 cities while taking ASU courses online and enrolling in courses in your host country.
Don’t see what you’re looking for?
If you're interested in studying abroad on a non-ASU-approved program, please review the following policies and procedures (as outlined by the Global Education Office) and explore all CIEE Programs.
Study Abroad Deadlines for ASU Students
To maximize your study abroad opportunities, it’s best to start planning as early as possible. The Global Education Office outlines some helpful planning tips, including applying for a passport, working closely with your academic advisor(s) and study abroad advisor(s), talking with returning students, and researching financial considerations.
Application deadlines are program-specific and are determined shortly before applications open; however, generally deadlines are as follows:
- Summer/Fall/Academic Year/Pre-Fall Global Intensive Experience programs: Applications typically open in late fall of the previous year, and the deadline to apply is March 1
- Spring Break/Post-Spring Global Intensive Experience programs: Applications typically open in early fall of the previous year, and the deadline to apply is November 15
- Spring/Calendar Year/Winter Break & Pre-Spring Global Intensive Experience programs: Applications typically open in late spring of the previous year, and the deadline to apply is September 25

Choose between three types of programs:
Global Network
Global Network gives you the opportunity to spend a semester abroad for the same cost as ASU tuition. No, really! Program fees come as close as possible to on-campus semester costs, including housing, tuition, and meals.
Global Flex
Need specific classes to complete your degree but still dreaming of studying abroad? Global Flex is the program for you! You'll take your ASU courses online while adding optional in-person courses or an international internship abroad.
Open Campus Block
Can't decide on just one location to study abroad? You don't have to! With the Open Campus Block program, you can study abroad in up to three different locations for six, 12, or up to 18 weeks.
