Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Taipei provides a variety of accommodation choices to make sure you feel at home while abroad. All accommodation options are situated in neighborhoods with easy access to public transportation, shopping areas, cafés, and food establishments.
Standard Housing: Includes homestays or double rooms in a dormitory or apartment or hotel.
- Homestays: Homestays provide students with the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in Taipei's diverse culture. The homestay experience includes breakfast and dinner from Monday to Sunday. Students will have the freedom to come and go as they please while spending quality time with their host families, gaining firsthand insight into everyday life in Taipei.
- Dormitory/Apartment/Hotel: Double occupancy rooms in a dormitory/apartment /hotel within a 25-minute commute from the CIEE study center and a 60-minute commute from NTNU. Room amenities include desks, chairs, closets, electrical current 110 Volts/60 Cycles AC, and free internet connection. Coin-operated laundry machines are available.
Select Housing: Includes single occupancy rooms in a dormitory/apartment/hotel within a 25-minute commute from the CIEE study center and a 30-minute commute from NTNU. Room amenities include desks, chairs, closets, electrical current 110 Volts/60 Cycles AC, and free internet connection. Coin-operated laundry machines are available. Select housing requires an additional fee.
Select Plus Housing: Includes larger single occupancy rooms in an apartment/hotel within a 25-minute commute from the CIEE Center and a 15-minute commute from NTNU. Room amenities include a desk, a chair, a closet, an electrical current of 110 Volts/60 Cycles AC, and free internet connection. Coin-operated laundry machines are available. Select Plus housing requires an additional fee.
A note: The default criterion to assign housing is first-come, first-served; however, other factors may also be considered. If we cannot accommodate your first housing choice, we'll let you know before you arrive.
Meals
- Homestays: Host families provide two meals per day.
- Apartments/Dormitories/Hotels: Meals are not included. Students are responsible for their meals. Meals are available in the neighborhoods at moderate prices, and there are many affordable local eateries, restaurants and grocery stores in the vicinity.
Transportation
Commuting time from housing location to internship will vary depending on the location of the internship provider.
Academics
CIEE Taipei: Study on the Campus of CIEE’s esteemed partner institution, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), located in Northern Taiwan. CIEE Taipei features a library and study space, public computers, and complimentary Wi-Fi access. On campus, students can access all the amenities and facilities NTNU offers, including outdoor facilities, although booking in advance may be required.
Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with optional online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 6-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.
Program Fees
CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel protection with benefits.
