Excursions & Activities
CIEE’s excursions and cultural activities in Seoul will open doors for you to explore South Korea’s rich diversity, language, culture, history, contemporary trends, vibrant art, and timeless beauty in ways that will enhance your time abroad.
Samples of past excursions and activities:
- Take a day trip to the DMZ to gain insights into the history and geopolitical significance of this border
- Learn about ceramic making in Mungyeong, a pottery-producing area dating back to the 14th century
- Visit Gyeongbokgung Palace while wearing traditional Korean clothing (Hanbok)
- Enjoy a picnic and playing traditional Korean games at the Han River with local students

Housing & Meals
Housing
CIEE Seoul offers a variety of housing options to ensure you’re comfortable in your home away from home. From twin rooms to single rooms in residence halls, we will strive for your accommodation preferences to be met. All housing is situated in vibrant neighborhoods with easy access to public transportation, shops, cafés, and dining options.
Standard Housing: Includes a twin room in a shared apartment or residence hall, located within a 30-minute commute by public transportation to the city center. Each room features a private ensuite toilet and shower, with access to a shared kitchenette for preparing meals.
Select Plus Housing: Includes a single room in a residence hall or shared apartment within a 30-minute commute by public transportation to the city center. Each room features an ensuite toilet, shower and a shared kitchenette. Select Plus housing is very limited and requires an additional fee.
Meals
Programs in Seoul do not include a meal plan. However, students can prepare their own meals in the on-site kitchenette. Additionally, Seoul is home to a wide variety of food vendors and restaurants offering diverse cuisines that cater to various dietary needs and preferences, including halal and vegetarian options.
Transportation
Commuting time from housing to the internship location may vary depending on the placement. However, students can easily reach their company using reliable public transportation.
Academics
CIEE Seoul: Study in the Seodaemun district on the campus of Yonsei University, where CIEE Seoul is located. Students are encouraged to enjoy all the facilities Yonsei offers, including its numerous cafés, cafeterias, coffee shops, printing facilities, classrooms, and a conference room for academic advising and student life support. The campus is conveniently located near the city’s public transportation network, making it easy to navigate to cultural attractions and landmarks.
Arizona State University (ASU): Brought to you by CIEE in partnership with ASU, enhance your international coursework with optional online classes that align with your degree requirements. ASU offers thousands of online courses in asynchronous 6-week sessions that fit within the CIEE academic calendar.

To help you budget, keep in mind that students are responsible for the cost of international airfare, local transportation, books and supplies, visas, and personal expenses. In addition, your college or university may charge additional fees for study abroad, or may require you to receive a transcript via CIEE's School of Record, which carries an additional fee of $500.
Program Fees
CIEE offers the most student support of any provider in its program fee, including an airport greeting, full-time leadership and support, orientation, cultural activities, local excursions, pre-departure advising, and CIEE iNext travel protection with benefits.
Financial Aid
CIEE offers the most grants and scholarships of any study abroad organization, including $8 million/year in travel grants, merit-based scholarships, institutional and MSI grants, and Gilman Go Global Grants.
