Two Uniquely Prague Drink Experiences
By: Riley Mixon
Beer Spa
Address: Revoluční 22, Praha 1, 110 00
It is no shock that Prague is well known for its beer. Beer is one of the cheapest things money can buy in this city; a pint is often 60 koruna ($2.50 USD). While one can find beer at virtually every food and drink establishment in the city, Prague Beerland immerses its customers in a beer experience of the next level—literally. Offered in New Town and Hradčany, Beerland is a spa experience completely revolving around the drink. Patrons enjoy a tub soak in a concoction of beer, beer extracts, and herbal beer mixture. While enjoying the experience, which comes complete with bubbles and a chance to lay on a relaxing bed of hay after the bath, patrons are given unlimited beer on tap. Beerland offers light and dark beer, and guests have the room and an additional ensuite shower and bathroom to themselves during their scheduled time. Na zdraví!
Anonymous Shrinks Office
Address: Jungmannova 23/11, 110 00 Nové Město
Prague has a lively and sometimes eclectic night scene. There is truly something for everyone: clubs, taverns, wine bars, Irish pubs, and even themed bars such as 70s disco. One nightlife scene that I want to highlight for its unique flair and concept is Shrinks Office. This establishment is the lesser known sister bar to Anonymous bar. The interior is decorated with plush leather chairs and exposed dark brick walls. Bartenders wear masks to conceal their identity, as they also do at the Anonymous Bar. The concept is that patrons describe a vague idea of what they want their drink to be and pick an inkblot that speaks to them. The inkblot dictates further what drink they will receive. I find it a unique concept to be surprised by your drink, and the dark, mysterious atmosphere elevates the experience. If you are tired of the same old nightlife scenes or basic cocktails, this is the place for you!
