Open Campus Fisheries, Biology and Sustainability Students visit the Two Oceans Aquarium
In a specially curated visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium, led by marine biologist Lauren de Vos, Open Campus students enrolled in the Fisheries, Biology and Sustainability course got to see for themselves the fish, invertebrates and reptiles which inhabit the beautiful Indian and Atlantic ocean coastlines of South Africa. With a special focus on the various approaches to monitoring coastal fish populations students learnt about the devastating impact that over-fishing and off-shore oil mining is having on the marine life of South Africa and the measures that are required in order to protect and, where possible, revive these ecosystems.
