My top 3 favorite iced coffees in Barcelona
By: Grace Cowhig
One of the hardest things I have had to adapt to in Barcelona is the norm of hot coffee. I love iced coffee, and back in the US I refuse to drink hot coffee unless I am literally freezing cold. Here in Barcelona, as well as many other parts of Europe, drinking your hot coffee is a really important part of the day, and it's often enjoyed sitting down in a café rather than on the go. While I do my best to adjust to the local culture and enjoy hot coffees, every once in a while, I need a taste of home, especially on the 85-degree days. So, here’s my list of the 3 best iced coffee shops I have found in Barcelona so far:
1. Brew Coffee
While it may sound kind of weird this place has become my favorite mostly because of the shape of ice they use. Back in New Orleans, where I go to school, there is an amazing coffee shop called French Truck Coffee that is my absolute favorite. They use a small, crushed ice in their coffee which for some reason makes it 100 times better. This place uses a similar type of ice, and it reminds me of being back in New Orleans, and of course the coffee itself is very good.
2. Boldú
This place is very popular with CIEE Barcelona students as it is right next to the CIEE center, making it an easy spot to run in for a quick coffee or snack before class. As well as really delicious iced coffee and the option of oat milk, they also have great sandwiches. They are known for their “Bolduman”, their version of gingerbread man but in donut form! Overall, this is a great option for not only coffee, but a nice little pick-me-up treat.
3. Farggi Cafè
This place I have not been as often as the other two, but it’s still a great option for iced coffee. They even have a Pumpkin Spice Latte which is huge for me, as one of the things I miss the most about the US right now is the fall feeling and fall flavors. This place also has really great food options, and the interior is super cute which makes for a great study spot.
