Harry Potter Cafe in Hongdae
Recently, I became a massive fan of the cinematic Harry Potter series. When I learned that there was a Harry Potter-themed cafe in Hongdae, I was ecstatic to visit. As our visit was decided on a whim, my roommate and I hopped on the bus and made our way.
When you initially see the cafe, it looks like any other ordinary building. Making our way closer, we realized that the entire building, made up of 5 floors, was dedicated to the Harry Potter theme. As we walked into the cafe (the doors are located at the side of the cafe, not at the front), we were greeted with an endless selection of wands, which we found were empty boxes. The cafe played the soundtrack of Harry Potter, so we felt like we were transformed into the cinematic universe.
As we waited for our order, my roommate and I visited all the floors. The basement floor was decorated as a dark pub. Mistaking the entire floor to be a bar, we decided to visit and enjoy our beverages at another level. The 2nd floor is called the Wizard Cafe, the main floor for customers to enjoy their beverages. The next floor was my favorite: Banquet Hall. It gave dark academia and had the best seating for a good study session. The last floor open to muggles was the Wizard Dormitory. This floor had bed seating; we were required to sit criss-cross applesauce. This floor also allowed customers to dress in Hogwarts capes and take pictures.
My roommate and I ordered the special, which got us two drinks, dessert, and a side of jellybeans. Together, we ordered ButterBeer, Matcha Frappe, and a cheesecake. While everything was delicious, I would say the cafe's ambiance made everything more magical.
The overall experience was amazing—one of my favorite themed cafes. We had visited the cafe at the perfect time as there were not many customers. We could roam around and enjoy the cafe to its fullest.
