A Guide to Sydney's Best Cafes from Your Local Expert in "Coffee and a Little Treat".
Sydney has slowly become renowned for its world-class coffee and foodie scene, boasting an array of artisanal cafes that serve, not only, perfectly crafted brews but cakes and bakes that will have you feeling like everyday is, or at least should be celebrated like, your birthday.
As a born and raised Sydneysider I've spent many years and taken great pain (au chocolat) in researching a list of the most visit - worthy spots in and around the CBD.
1) Starbucks
Lol jokes.
1) A.P Bakery

Arguably the best of the best, down stairs is Paramount where the coffee menu features local and international roasters on a rotational basis. Up on the rooftop is the bakehouse, offering pastries that would rival Parisian boulangarie. Don't miss the Ricotta & Rosemary Danish or the Aleppo Pepper & Asiago Cheese Scroll.
2) Blackstar Pastry

Home of the World's Most Instagrammed Cake, think Strawberry and Watermelon layered between almond dacquoise and Rose cream. It's as delicious as it is pretty. While the coffee here is not the main star you won't be disappointed with their St Ali roast or any specialty drink. Don't miss the Japanese Chicken Curry pie.
3) Bourke Street Bakery

Bourke Street Bakery started as a little rustic corner store bakery café serving up delicious sourdough and has grown so large it has a chain in the big apple, NYC. While you’ll want to take home a loaf of the rosemary and potato bread its their take on the aussie classic pie and sausage roll that’s really not to be missed, especially the Lamb and Harissa.
4) Mecca Coffee

While this blogger cannot claim to be a coffee snob, Mecca boasts a flawless roast. With an ethos that great coffee starts at the farm, don’t be surprised if the hipsters pouring your cup explain the entire life story of the bean you are about to drink. Here the “little treat” is merely a side quest but you wont be disappointed about that. Don't miss asking for a recommendation. These boujee baristas know what they are talking about.
5) Flour and Stone

If old school bakes, the type your grandma used to make, are more your style do not forgo a trip to Flour and Stone. This tiny bakery prides itself on quality ingredients, made fresh daily and you can totally tell as you bite into one of their flaky pastries or homemade cakes. Do not miss the decadent pannacotta Lamington. Pair it with a latte for the ultimate Australian experience of coffee and a little treat!
