Exploring Cádiz, Ronda, and Córdoba
By: Rebecca Bollich
Exploring the stunning cities of Cádiz, Ronda, and Córdoba on day trips with CIEE has been one of the highlights of my study abroad experience. These excursions were completely free with my program, making them very accessible. CIEE truly made the entire process seamless—they handled all the planning and logistics, allowing me to focus on enjoying the adventure. The trips were so well-organized and educational, blending moments of discovery with plenty of time for fun.
In Cádiz, I was blown away by the beautiful coastline and charming streets. The water was so clear and we had free time to explore the beaches. We had a guided tour of the city’s rich history and soaked in the lively atmosphere. Ronda was like stepping into a postcard. Walking across the Puente Nuevo and taking in the views of the surrounding countryside was unforgettable. We got to see their famous bullfighting ring and walking around on the ground in the middle was a surreal experience. Córdoba was equally stunning, and I got to check off seeing La Mezquita from my bucket list. The intricate architecture and historical significance made me feel like I was traveling back in time.
What made these trips even more special was sharing them with friends I had already made through the program. Together, we created amazing memories, from snapping photos at breathtaking sites to sharing laughs over tapas. I also met so many new people during these excursions, and it felt like the perfect mix of adventure and community.
These trips added excitement and variety to my study abroad routine while giving me a deeper appreciation for Spain’s culture and history. I’m so grateful I chose to study abroad with CIEE—their support and opportunities have made my time in Spain truly unforgettable!
