A Day in the Life of a Study Abroad Student in Seville

After studying abroad in Sevilla for a few weeks, I got my daily routine down. A typical day in my life starts by making a small breakfast in my kitchen apartment. Spaniards are used to eating a small breakfast in order to save room for their biggest meal: lunch. After breakfast, I walk over next door (literally) and go to my first class at EUSA. On Tuesdays, my first and earliest class is Film 3 at 8:30. Once class ends at 10:30, I then head over to my other university, the CIEE location. The walk from EUSA to CIEE Seville is about 20 minutes. I usually take the tram to the last stop, which takes about 10 minutes, and then from there walk the last 10. I love passing by the center and old town, and that’s the best way to get there. My walk to class consists of passing by the Cathedral, Alcázar and countless amount of cute restaurants.

After taking the scenic route, I get to my Digital Context and Documentary Class at CIEE. The CIEE Seville center is beautiful with an open courtyard in the middle and a working fountain. After class ends about an hour and a half later, my friends and I will usually wander the center of town. PANYPIU is the café we stop at first for a sweet treat. All of us are big thrifters and like to check out Mosaico for new items, especially when they have their deal days from $10 to $1 items. We’re usually tired of walking so much and head back to our apartments to make a quick lunch and head to our Art and Tourism class. By the time class ends, we like to catch the sunset at the Plaza de Espana and spend some time journaling and taking photographs. We then decide if we’ll order take out from our favorite places, Mister Noodles and Bollywood, or head back into town for some tapas. From dinner, depending on if we’re tired from everything we did that day, we’ll head over to ArcadeBar where we can play any board game for one euro or rent out our apartments' theater room for movie night. Everyday looks different when you study abroad because exploring the city is the most important thing to do. But, this is what my usual day looks like, familiarity and a sense of belonging is just as important!
