Colin McElroy

Colin McElroy brings more than 20-years of experience in safety and security to his role as the CIEE Senior Director of Risk & Emergency Management, including 7-years with CIEE. Previously, Colin served as the CIEE Director for Health, Safety, & Security.

Prior to joining CIEE, Colin served as an Officer in the U.S. Army, departing at the rank of Major and serving in a wide variety of roles. With the Army, he led multiple military organizations, notably including leading the headquarters unit of the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School, where he was responsible for 3,000 students annually.  During his military career he also commanded military police units and air defense artillery units, directly advised foreign security forces, and spent numerous years living and working abroad in Europe and the Middle East, including serving two year-long combat deployments in Iraq. 

He is a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute where he earned a BA in History; he also holds an AA in Arabic from the Defense Language Institute, an MS in International Relations with a concentration in National Security Affairs from Troy University, and a MA in Business & Organizational Security Management from Webster University.
