Joana Almeida

Joana holds a Ph.D. in Historical Sociology from the University of Lisbon. She has been working at CIEE Lisbon since 2011, first as a faculty member, then as the Academic Director of the center. Having studied and worked abroad herself, she is passionate about international education. Over the years she has taught international students on cultural and political history, history of the city of Lisbon, and contemporary Portugal. Her research interests cover different fields of study with an emphasis on power and state construction from a cultural studies perspective.
