Scholarships Update

As our scholarship and grant portfolio indicates, CIEE continues to lead international education providers in study abroad awards – with more than $8 million offered last year alone. Through spring 2021, our robust scholarships and grants program features Open Campus Grants, merit scholarships, and as always, an array of need-based awards to ensure students from all backgrounds can realize their study abroad dream.

Also, the scholarships and grants application process has been streamlined so students need only submit one quick application to be considered for all awards for which they are eligible.

Highlights include:

New - Open Campus Latin America Grants

• Semester students can self-nominate for a $9,000 grant for three blocks on the Open Campus Block program (two blocks must take place at Latin America Open Campus locations).
• Quarter students can self-nominate for a $6,000 grant for two blocks on the Open Campus Block program in Latin America locations.

Open Campus Grants

• Partner Institutions on a semester schedule can nominate and receive two $3,000 grants for students submitting an Open Campus Block program application for three blocks.
• Partner Institutions on a quarter schedule can nominate and receive two $2,000 grants for students submitting an Open Campus Block program application for two blocks.

We will continue to award scholarships and grants based on high academic achievement or financial need, including:

• GAIN travel grants to Pell-eligible students
• CIEE Gilman Go Global matching grants for EVERY student who applies for a Gilman Grant
• $12,500 in merit scholarships every term
• Our renowned Frederick Douglass Global Fellowships in Cape Town, South Africa for ten exemplary MSI students
• $1,500 Frederick Douglass Global Scholar grant toward a summer study abroad program to all qualified applicants of the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship who are not selected. (Please note, application deadline is February 14, 2020.)
