Great news out of Cape Town! The City of Cape Town has announced it no longer expects to face a Day Zero — a day when most of the taps will be turned off.

There were considerable rains in June and dam levels rose significantly. Water restrictions are still in place, but city officials are confident that Cape Town will safely get through summer in 2019 without reaching Day Zero.

As before, CIEE will continue monitoring the current water situation in Cape Town, and working closely with arriving students on how to fulfill their role in conserving water.
