Today was the second day of the 77th Annual CIEE Study Abroad Conference which brought international educators and thought leaders to Rome to exchange ideas for how study abroad can prepare the next generation of environmental changemakers.

The morning featured a thought-provoking and dynamic conference session exploring the transformative ideas presented in the groundbreaking book, It’s Not That Radical: Climate Action to Transform Our World, written by Michaela Loach who will speak at the closing plenary tomorrow.

The session brought together leading voices from five different global regions—Africa and the Middle East, Latin America, Europe, North America, and the Pacific Rim—to engage in a rich, cross-cultural dialogue about the book’s central themes and their implications for global climate activism.

From fostering student interest in climate science to offering transformative study abroad opportunities, the teachers shared insights on how their schools are supporting students in navigating their academic and professional futures. The discussion touched on the most popular study abroad programs, how these experiences influence college decisions, and the aspirations students hold for life after college.
