My first month in the U.S.
My American adventure began in New York City where the orientations took place.
It was an amazing experience and I met awesome people there.
We visited Times Square, Central Park, the Statue of Liberty…
My flight was on August 2 but there was storms, so we couldn’t stop in Atlanta.
So we spent another day in New York.
Finally we flew New York-Atlanta on August 3 and then I had my last flight Atlanta-Kansas City.
I was so excited to meet my host family.
They picked me up at the airport with a picture that said “Patricia, welcome home to Kansas City”
They had organized a painting party.
It was so fun.
The next couple weeks, I was visiting the city, it is called the city of fountains.
The school started on August 16 and my host mom took my “first day of school picture”
I took the bus and I arrived in the high school.
I knew a girl from the tennis team (I quit the team after 5 practices because I didn’t have time for me) so she became my first friend.
I was lost so I had to ask all the time to find my classes.
I met nice people that helped me a lot, then I had the lunch time and I sat with different people that I am sitting now.
I had three more periods and the first day was over.
I took the bus home and I rest. It was a long day.
That weekend the girl from the tennis team invited me to her house and we were painting and playing the ukulele, I really enjoyed hang out with my first american friend.
On Sunday I went to the fair with my host family.
The next week was really excited, because I went with a friend to the movies, and I tried Sonic for the first time in the U.S.
On Friday I went to my first football game, everything was like in a movie; the cheerleaders, the band…
I spent the weekend at the pool with my family and eating tacos.
The next week was hard because I had a sprain so I had to miss school for three days and I couldn’t walk.
That weekend would be longer because of Labor day on September 3 so I hung out with the tennis girl and I had dinner in her house. Her family is really nice to me.
The week was good I was having good grades so I was proud of myself.
On Saturday I went to Taylor Swift’s concert, and I did my community service because, I was volunteering with the school, distributing bracelets for the concert.
When we finished our work we could watch the concert.
On Sunday I went to Kansas City Zoo with my family.
It was a great week!
This is all about my first month here in Kansas City, Mo I have done many different things and I am so happy to be here.
In my next post I am going to write about my second month and homecoming, halloween…
I hope you like it.
Yours sincerely, Patricia.
