How long will my certification last?

Thousands of aspiring English teachers get certified every year to Teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). With that certification, they usually get on a plane for a teaching job abroad. The position might be in Thailand, South Korea, China, Vietnam, Spain, or in another remote corner of the world. They have an amazing experience teaching in another country and exploring a different part of the world.

And then what? As TEFL English language teachers come close to the end of their contract abroad, many thoughts cross their minds: “What am I going to do next?” “How can I keep doing this?” “Should I teach somewhere else?”

Many English teachers either extend their existing contract, or find another job abroad in a different country. Believe it or not, traveling and teaching English as a Foreign Language can be a career. Some teachers come back to the United States, work for a while, and then decide to teach abroad again. TEFL Certification allows you to give into your wanderlust at any age. There are hundreds of retired professionals teaching English to support their retirement abroad.
