What a week!
We have been in Japan for a week now! It has been a week filled with getting settled, starting Japanese language classes and various excursions around the city. Sometimes as a large group and then exploring in smaller groups. It's amazing to watch the transformation during the first week as students figure out the network of trains, create a cognitive map of their immediate surroundings, try new foods and find the foods they want to eat again and again. They work together to communicate in Japanese and many have expressed that they are surprised by how much they have learned so quickly. Here is a glimpse into some of our days:
