Welcome to Maine!
The students’ first day here for the BAFF Leadership Academy was July 4th, and they were ready to start exploring regardless of the jetlag. After a quick class, we headed down to Bug Light Park in South Portland to see the lighthouse, hear the reading of the Declaration of Independence, walk around, and of course, get lunch from the food trucks. After taking some time to explore the campus where they are staying, we headed back over to Bug Light to watch the sunset, play with frisbees, and see the fireworks. It was beautiful!
Since then, students have been getting adjusted to campus life, doing classwork and making friends. Today, they also got to walk to the beach and play volleyball, test out the cold water, and sunbathe, which is one of the best perks of being in Maine.
